An event designer for Frederick and the DMV
Creative Motion Events is the studio of Fayola Whyte-Manco. She designs the room, directs the day, and stays the person you call.
If you are looking for an event designer in Frederick, you are usually looking for someone who can hold both the idea and the day. Creative Motion Events by Fay LLC is that studio. Fayola Whyte-Manco is the Founder and Creative Director. Since 2017, she has brought more than 200 events to life, most of them through referrals. The practice serves Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Frederick and Frederick County are part of that Maryland work. Private celebrations are taken by inquiry. Corporate events are too.
The design, and the people in the room
Fayola’s line about the work is plain. It has never been just about the décor. It has always been about the people. A concept still has to be specific: mood, color, texture, and the way guests move. Tablescapes, florals, signage, a stage or an entry, and the installation people photograph are part of event design. So is the feeling when someone walks in and recognizes the evening they described.
The sequence does not change with the county. We connect, in a conversation about the vision and who it is for. We design, and a proposal follows in five business days. We produce, with vendor direction, install, on-site direction, and breakdown. Then you feel it. That last step is the point of hiring an event designer instead of collecting vendors yourself. Event production is how the design gets into the room on time.
Rooms the studio has already designed
The albums are the honest record of range. They name the rooms that were designed, rather than a list of every city in the service area. For the PMI Washington DC Chapter Awards Gala at JW Marriott Reston in October 2026, the ballroom was navy linen, orchid centerpieces, and a lit conference stage. The welcome pieces, the signage, and the stage carried one palette, so the night read as a single design from arrival to program.
In Hanover, Maryland, the Able Health Services grand opening was a different assignment: a red carpet, a ribbon cutting, and branded balloon columns for a healthcare practice. In Wheaton, the PNC Bank grand opening was a branch opening, with entry design scoped to the timeline the branch actually had. A program night and a public opening are different designs. The albums show both.
Private celebrations, by inquiry
The private work is quieter, and it is taken by inquiry. In Maryland, Titi’s bridal shower included a tablescape, florals, and a Miss to Mrs backdrop, so the guest of honor could walk in and feel it. Jazmine and Jaleesa’s engagement dinner was built around one long shared table, with baby’s breath, gold-rimmed place settings, and a sheer tent. Milestone birthdays, anniversaries, intimate dinners, and destination celebrations sit in the same practice. Destination events are by invitation. Three to six months is a comfortable lead for a milestone. Spring, fall, and December book earlier in the Washington area.
One studio, whether the host is a chapter or a family
Corporate work covers galas and awards nights, holiday parties and employee appreciation, grand openings, cultural and embassy celebrations, and executive or donor dinners. A volunteer committee and a family planning a shower are different clients. Both get one point of contact. Fayola oversees the creative vision from the first concept through the final installation. If the brief is a gala or a branded opening, corporate event design is the closer look. If the brief is the calendar, the vendors, and the decisions, corporate event planning is.
Organizations with three or more events a year can ask about an Annual Design Partnership. Each event is scoped on its own. There is no separate annual membership fee, and it is not an unlimited package. The design fee is shown apart from rentals and florals. Venue and catering stay with you.
The studio has been featured by Rockville REDI, Voyage Maryland, Brides & Weddings Magazine, and Capitol Romance. The work itself is in the albums. Write hello@creativemotionevents.com or call 301-337-7256, and say what the room should feel like.
