Event production for DC, Maryland, and Virginia
Guests see the finished room. Production is the schedule, the vendors, and the person who makes those pieces one event.
Event production at Creative Motion Events is led by Fayola Whyte-Manco, Founder and Creative Director. On site she is also the event director. The studio produces events for organizations in Washington, DC, in Bethesda and across Maryland, and in Virginia. The albums name the rooms already produced: JW Marriott Reston, Hanover, and Wheaton.
A polished room still depends on arrival times, a limited setup window, venue rules, and a list of people who each own one piece. A linen company, a balloon installer, a florist, a rental house, a printer, a photographer, the venue team, and event staff can all be in the building at once. Someone has to see the whole picture. That is the production. Event design decides how it should look. Production is how it gets there before the doors open.
What the production actually covers
The studio’s list is specific. Full vendor sourcing and direction. Florals and décor sourcing. Custom signage and printed material. Install lead, on-site direction, and breakdown. Budget oversight and timeline management sit with that work. Photography and videography can be coordinated so the day is documented without the host managing another call sheet. Sourcing covers linens, florals, custom pieces, signage, and rentals. Venue and catering remain separate. Design fees and production expenses are quoted separately, so you can see which is which.
You stay in the decisions, and you still approve the direction. What changes is who chases the delivery. Fayola moved the studio toward full event direction so a client could talk to one person who understood the whole vision, instead of managing every creative vendor while also preparing to host.
A ballroom with a clock on it
The PMI Washington DC Chapter Awards Gala at JW Marriott Reston, in October 2026, is the clearest picture of production at this scale. The room included guest tables, centerpieces, branded signage, balloons, marquee letters, a stage backdrop, lounge details, and installations through the venue. Each element belonged to one design. Bringing that design in required vendor arrival times, installation locations, staffing, and a setup window that closed before guests entered.
Navy linen went onto the tables. Centerpiece cylinders were filled. A gold runner was laid. The team looked over the ballroom before the doors opened. The journal note What an Event Director Actually Does walks through that day from the director’s side.
A grand opening is a different production
The Able Health Services grand opening in Hanover, Maryland, was not a ballroom program. The purpose was a ribbon cutting, a red carpet, and branded balloon columns. The scale changed. The responsibility did not: understand why people were gathering, decide which areas mattered, and make those areas feel like one brand.
The PNC Bank grand opening in Wheaton, Maryland, was a branch opening: exterior, entry, and branding for a corporate host working inside a real timeline. It sits in the portfolio next to Hanover because production is not one room shape. A lobby, a pre-function space, and a ballroom each need a plan for where things land and when the install has to be finished.
Washington, Bethesda, and the rest of the map
If your event is in Bethesda, in the District, in Frederick County, or elsewhere in Maryland or Virginia, the inquiry is the same. Tell us the venue, the date, and what the day has to accomplish. Hosts planning a private celebration can start from private celebrations. The install and the breakdown are the same discipline, scaled to the gathering.
Organizations with three or more events a year can put production inside an Annual Design Partnership. You share the calendar. Every event still has its own proposal, design fee, approved production budget, and execution plan. There is no separate annual membership fee, and the partnership is not an unlimited package. For a single date, corporate event planning is the path from the first conversation to that setup window.
